How does the GARAWAK M2 Tracker work?

The GARAWAK M2 Tracker uses the Apple Find My network to locate your laptop even if it’s shut down. Once paired with your Apple ID via the Find My app, your device becomes trackable through nearby Apple devices globally.

Is the M2 Tracker compatible with non-Apple devices?

Currently, the M2 Tracker is designed exclusively for use with Apple devices through the Find My app. Android support is not available at this time.

Which laptops does the M2 Tracker fit?

The tracker is compatible with laptops that have a standard M.2 2280 slot. Ideal for high-end gaming laptops from ASUS ROG, MSI, Lenovo Legion, Alienware, and similar brands. Not compatible with MacBooks.

How is the M2 Tracker installed?

Simply unscrew your laptop’s back panel, insert the M2 Tracker into an unused M.2 slot (typically reserved for SSDs), and reassemble. No special tools or software required.

Does the M2 Tracker affect my laptop’s performance?

No. It operates independently and draws minimal power (~2–10 μA). It does not interfere with your SSD or system functions.

What is the battery life of the M2 Tracker?

The M2 Tracker runs on a standard CR2016 coin cell battery, lasting approximately 12 months. The battery is user-replaceable. If your laptop is powered on, the battery is not consumed and will work as a backup battery and thus last much longer.

Does it require charging?

No charging is required. Just replace the coin battery once a year.

Is the M2 Tracker waterproof?

No, the M2 model is not waterproof, as it's designed for use inside laptops. For waterproof tracking, check our vehicle or scooter models.

Can I track multiple M2 devices with one Apple ID?

Yes, depending on your iOS version. iOS 15.8 supports up to 16 devices; iOS 16 and later supports up to 32 devices.

Can I track my M2 Tracker from a Mac or iPad?

Yes. Any Apple device linked to your iCloud account (Mac, iPad, iPhone or Ipod Touch 7th Gen) can track the M2 via the Find My app.

What happens if my laptop is stolen and wiped?

As long as the tracker remains powered, it continues to ping location via Apple’s network. Even if the laptop is reset or powered down, the tracker stays linked to your Apple ID until removed manually.

Is the tracker visible to thieves?

No. The M2 Tracker is installed inside the laptop or desktop computer and is not directly obvious even when opening up the laptop or computer itself. However, thieves will be notified if they have a newer phone after around 2-4 hours, however, in most cases, they will not know how to remove the tracker as it is built-in

Do I need to install any software?

No. Just use Apple’s built-in Find My app. There’s no need for third-party apps or services.

Do I need a subscription?

No subscription is required to use the tracker with Apple Find My. However, we offer an optional web-based service with historical tracking and shareable maps that is billed yearly called CLOUD TRACKING.

Can I move the tracker to another laptop later?

Yes. Remove the tracker, and reinstall it in your new device. The tracker is already paired to your Apple account and will continue to work seamlessly. Don't forget to rename your tracker to match your new computer.
